Got my SWA Spyder XL !

Has a splinter/scratch in the top limb.

Emailed SWA immediately & they already sent out 2 new limbs (same day).

Other than that, bow looks good.

Built some 340 micro diameter arrows @ 30" with 175gr points and 3" feathers.
Anyone want to elaborate on my choice of arrow? Bow is 45# @ 28". My draw is 30".

    Should be Rock'n & Roll'n next wk!

I think those arrows might be a bit stiff without more weight up front. You won’t know for sure till you shoot them. At this stage it really dosen’t matter that much unless they just fly terrible. As long as they fly with no bad wobbles, just shoot them and learn good form. As you progress, things will likely change anyway.

Also, if your DL is 30”, I would not cut future arrows under 31”.

Good luck with your new stick, and have fun!!!!!!

      Rookie....

Couldn't really do a "full pull" but did manage 30-40 shots. Gonna go with 31.5" arrows vs these 30".

1st 2 at 10 yds (been 25 yrs so startn small - lol).

Rest were at 17 yds (Ethans marked range).

Never missed the bag (cept a couple shots into the block to test penetration). I impressed myself!

This thing shoots HARD! Over 1' deep into a block target. No doubt it'll penetrate deep enough to kill, if I can put it there!

Got some moleskin and cat whiskers to put on today. See if it quietens down.

      Lots of practice needed/to come!

        Practice...

Been shooting a couple x a wk. Not enough, lol.

Got the bow all fixed up and 31.5" arrows ready.

Shot 12-15 groups of 5 last night. 1 BH, 4 field points. 20 yds.

        My arm plumb wore out!

I did manage 1 decent group.

Wont be long til I'm ready to miss a pig!

JMHO, but if you plan on shooting critters at 20yds, then get ready for that miss, or wound!!!! Set up for 12-14yds and get most of your shots on live critters in that range. Your success and recovery rate will be much higher!!!! And keep on practicing till you can’t hardly miss at that range.

Good luck! Can’t wait to see your first trad LDP!

What Bisch said about longer shots on critters however on targets it's good practice.

I'm practicing at 20 cause thats how far the feeder is from the stand. But... I can toss some corn a lil closer.
I've actually shot a few rounds @ 30! Bag size groups, lol.

My new arrows are 31.5" GT 400s w 3" feathers and 130gr 4 blade Muzzys. Seem to hit ok ???

                Disregard previous!
Shot like crap tonight. Lost an arrow and I was only shooting 15 yds!
Gonna regroup and try again tomorrow.

Like stated before. Get closer! Traditional hunting is how close you can get them. I like my feed at 12 paces.

Bowhunting has always been a close game for me. Yes, I've made some longer shots on game with a compound. But it never had the same appeal as having them so close I could see their eye lashes and their nostrils flair.
Some shooters get their jollies killing them long range. Just how it is.
