    Which Arrow Setup Would You Pick?

    Which would you pick for elk hunt? I know speed camp vs mass camp…just curious what most of y’all would run with.

    Option 1 I have:
    424 Grains
    288 FPS
    KE-> 78.08

    Option 2 I have:
    499 Grains
    267 FPS
    KE-> 78.98

    Option 3 get made:
    470ish grains

        Both shoot great…just evaluating speed for distance vs mass on impact type analysis for those that have done a lot more of this than me.

          Option 1 the lighter the faster, the faster the flatter.

          This will be important especially if hunting in timber to minimize chances of hitting branches and it will be more forgiving on longer shots where you may be guessing yardage if an elk moves after you have ranged it and are at full draw.

          My arrow setup came in at 454gr and I have been very pleased with how it fly’s. I would rather have been closer to 425 but could only get there with a 75gr head and that wasn’t an option for the heads I wanted to use

              All would work. But probably #3 for happy medium

                Just got back from a bear hunt and shot one quartering to me square in the shoulder with a Rage Trypan and a 376 grain arrow. Got 3/4 of an arrow in penetration. Dead bear in 30 yards. I wouldn't hesitate to shoot an elk with the lighter setup at 288 fps.

                        This is interesting. I expected majority to say 2.

                          For whitetail and the way I hunt 2 is my choice

                            Hunting situation and trajectory issues would decide for me. Both are way more than enough. I’m not in the “more mass” cult but would probably take the heavier one here assuming it will shoot a fixed blade better… if not I’d be more than fine with the performance of options 1

                            Your splitting hairs that can only by calculated in controlled testing

                              Option #2

                              Heavier arrows are always better
