Surge suppression does fix what the issue is with inrush and loads coming online.

Get you one of these regardless. If you are frying electronics I would look into how the generator is wired or have an electrician go thru it. I have done dozens of portable generator installs and never had this issue you speak of. I could also give you some pricing on doing whole home surge protection as well.
They sell a 30a and a 50a version of this. If you only want surge protection while using the generator.
