I owned and flew a Cessna 172 back in the mid 80's. Sold it but regret it to this day. Go for it. You only live once. Maintenance is expensive and 100ll is expensive. They have lots of small airports anymore that have fly in for breakfast are lunch. My nephew has a small plane and he and his girl friend are always flying somewhere for breakfast.
My son was in a flight club and paid a monthly dues and the a plane fee and fuel when he flew. It was very reasonable and the club handled all the maintenance. The club members had access to 4 planes.
Why is it the green screen knows what I'm thinking?
I'm in the process of shopping for one myself. Everyone has said it, mx records and how long its sat without flying are big. Also there is a year range associated with TBO not just hours.

That's a great way to go about it.
I have had 3 different planes and would probably still have one if I had partners or created a club
Hangar fees bothered me like a gnat. There is a Cub in one of my landlords barn she wants me to restore but Farming is in the ruff so It will sit there awhile longer. I’ve been trying to buy that plane for 30 years! Now no one thinks I can fit in it.

I have a friend that has owned planes for as long as I can remember and he switched from true-sole ownership to this coop-group owned system about 3-4 years back. I’m not privy to the specifics of how it works but he says sharing the maintenance, insurance, storage-hangar fees, etc is the way to go nowadays. I would assume, just like on a deer lease, entering into the agreement with the right group of folks is key.

I have a wealthy cousin who has been paying hanger rent on a Cessna 195 and covered rent on a cub for at least 40 years and neither plane has moved an inch in all that time and he would not sell either one for 100k if someone offered.......crazy people
