Default 19 Days to Kill - Live!!! New Mexico, East Tx, North Tx, Illinois
We kicked today off in a beautiful spot!
Found several bulls and cows in a big bowl grazing while the bulls showed out for us. Laid eyes on a really nice 6x6 and made a move to try and cut them off as they headed north.
At some point the bull we were after swapped directions and headed south. We regrouped and doubled back. Saw 6 different bulls, all 5x5’s, while looking for the target bull. Took us about an hr to locate him. He was on a pond below us.
After a few cow calls and a bugle he made his way to us.
He locked up in some thick brush. Wind swirled and he left didn’t like what he smelt.
Making a location change to see why we can find.

Beautiful morning to start off our Day 2 hunt.

No service all day. Close encounter on a nice bull a few hrs ago. Made a move to a different area. I’ll update when I can.

Just got back to camp.

Posted up on a pond this evening close to a spot where we heard several bulls bugling from their beds on the side of a mountain around 11:00 today. Had a small 5x5 come in to 40 yards with 3 cows. Wind was swirling bad and they didn’t stay long.
Had another young bull, 4x4, come in to water and he spooked too.
Decided to make a move to a big hill right before dark to see if we could spot some bulls to chase in the morning.

We definitely found what we are after. Sure enough 6X6, 300”+ bull with 10+ cows. We’ll be after him in the morning. Justin got some good footage of him. I’ll post pics of him shortly.

Another good day of chasing Elk!!!

We are 250 yards from him and his cows.
Big opening between us and them. Waiting to see if they bed down there or move.
Can’t make a move because we’ll get busted without any cover.

Guide went around to try and push them our way but they bypassed us.
No way we were gonna pull him away from those cows.

We loved working into the wind slowly in dark timber using soft cow calls during the middle of the day.

Located a few groups of elk with smaller bulls with them.
Not really what we are wanting to go after.
Talked with the guide and I think we are gonna make another run at the shooter we tried to get on this morning.

We have covered and seen some beautiful country today.

Really appreciate all the positive comments and everyone who is following along.
