    Longer Range Shooting?

So I just bought a savage LRP in 6.5 CM. I want to shoot out to 800 at hogs. Do I need to add a 20 MOA base to have the ability to dial for that distance. I am newbie on the 6.5. My 308 will dial to 600 on a standard base. Hope this makes sense.

I normally add them no matter what. Just to ensure you will have enough elevation. Good luck. 800 isn’t that hard with a 6.5. Push 140gr bullet 2700+ fps and you can get there no issues.

All depends on how much adjustment your scope has in it. I'd just go with a 20 MOA base to start with, if you don't already have your base.

I have a standard flat base with the Strike Eagle Vortex on my Bergara 6.5 CM and have no problem dialing up 1000. Range will depend on the scope but with any 34mm tube 20x scope you should be able to reach past 800.

You will need around 6 mrad (20 MOA) of elevation dialed..... Most scopes will have that from their zero without the base.

Just verify what you have left in the scope from your zero.
