I can't say enough about the ranch 15 of us went to set up by Rudy on a awesome ranch outside of Laredo. The deer on this ranch are unbelievable, no matter the time of day there were deer on our road corn around every corner. The javilina were just as thick!
I got in with a group of guys that most have been going for their 12th consecutive year and I can see why. In 3 days of hunting me and my partner put at least 30 stalks down some ended successfully some blunders along the way also. Had some jaw chomping action coming at us a couple of times made it real interesting! Them jokers can be tough to put down especially when they get into the brush.
I got my 1st one down the 2nd stalk I made after I missed one just a few minutes earlier. So chad was on deck and smoked one the first opportunity he had! With me having 1 down I was looking for a "trophy" one for the wall so I made several stalks on em that ended with me getting busted, the javi just walking away or decided to hold off for a bigger one.
Fast forward to our last evening we got on some groups that had good sized javis in them. I make the stalk the javi get nervous so I figured I better make the shot range 42 yards take aim and MISS!! I go get my arrow and another group is moving thru the brush I find a opening draw back easy peasy 15 yard shot. Javi steps in opening turns and looks, trip the release and shot over his back!!! That was the one for the wall!!! I can't figure out what happened. Go grab my arrow 15 yards in the brush. Come back out to the road and there is another group on the corn! Range them 30 yards. This is when I realize why I missed the 15 yard shot I failed to move my slider sight after the previous 42 yard shot! Anyway move the sight to 30 draw back and smoke my 2nd one! Limited out!
Thanks Rudy for having us out and eating dinner with us a few times! Can't wait to do it again next year!
