It stinks to see these types of events go down the tubes.

I don't necessarily think people are crazier now then back in the day. I saw plenty of crazy stuff growing up on the coast back in the 80's and 90's. Same goes for floating the rivers in the hill country.

One major factor that often seems overlooked is population. These areas see thousands upon thousands more visitors now than ever before; same for these annual type events. Local law enforcement simply is overmatched.

Crystal Beach may be a pain to get to, however, there's roughly 6 million people that live within 100 miles of there. That number was half that much in the mid 90's.

A bunch of grown men acting like kids. Plus drinking and driving

Seat belts, which only went to those being a PIA because no one had belts on!

And surprisingly high number of unlawful carry charges.

Yeah was surprised by how many were unlawful carry

chances are those UCW charges where brought about due to the fact they was drunk or public intox. Cant be a CHL holder and drunk

It was all cleaned up by noon on Sunday.

Not saying I don't believe you, but Crystal beach is never "Clean". Maybe the residents picked up the little stretch you were at, but the whole beach is going to be trashed.

I think he said one of the old timers mention it was on par with spring breakers of the 90's. Not sure if I should take that as a complement or not. LOL

Crystal Beach in the 90s was the same redneck white trash. Rebel flags, pit bulls. Tight wranglers with boots and no shirt. Vidor was in the house. Lol. Tons of fights.

I was part of the 90's crowd down there at both Jamaica Beach (when you could drive on the beach) and Crystal Beach. I didn't enjoy my stay in Galveston County but it was well deserved.
