Sounds good. Excited to start fiddling with it

when the machine messes up, its probably your fault!

Check your belts and wheels before you start running the machine.

Check your zero and retract heights too!

Did you get it to do something in particular or just mess around with?

Check out ben Myers. he has been a big help to get started. https://www.youtube.com/c/MyersWoodshop/videos

Latest little project. Corn Hole boards with brand engraved. Customer is going to finish off with stain/epoxy to fill the engraved areas.

I've been wanting to buy a CNC machine for quite a while! This thread really has me wanting to pull the trigger.

Looking at getting a CNC soon. I know the sky is the limit with tooling. For those that have a machine already would this be a decent set to start with? I know there will be a learning curve and tools can be damaged. Or should I steer away from a kit and get a few basic bits and go from there.

You are getting a big boy one right?

I think these are a must.
                            Flatting bit(for your spoilboard)
                            1/4 Down cut
                            90 degree v bit
                            1/8 down cut
                            compression bit(if your cutting plywood)

toolstoday and bits & bits are two of the big ones.

like making a rifle stock from scratch or engraving on one?

Both are doable, making from scratch will take lots of programming.

I recently got an X-carve but haven't had time to play with it. What small/easy projects do you folks recommend to learn on??
You could start off with making family name signs or something similar.
