I’ve had a wise old doe coming to my feeder all season who had the uncanny ability to stay beyond my comfort zone for taking a shot. She seemed to sense that I was in the blind and always kept her distance. Well Wednesday she slipped up and came too close. The shot was good and she was down quickly within 30 yards. When I got a look at her teeth I saw that they were worn down almost to the gums. She must have been around 6 1/2 and had been smart enough to survive that long. I must be getting old as I had mixed emotions about killing the old gal. On the other hand I was happy with the well placed shot and more venison in the freezer.
