    Taos NM

Thinking about taking a road trip with my brother in June. Wanting to fish the rivers, streams and lakes in the area. Anybody TBHer have an air bnb or Vrbo property?
Any info on fishing, things to do/see would be appreciated. We aren’t fly fisherman, we’d be using spinning tackle.
    Thanks

Taos sits on the enchanted circle and has easy access to Angle Fire, Eagle Nest, Red River and Questa.

For a first timer- the Red River near Questa is a good place for stocker rainbows. Access at the fish hatchery. Eagle Nest reservoir is really good. Trout, yellow perch and northern pike. Plenty of bank access in normal years-but its a state park and may not allow non-residents with the Covid restrictions. Eagle nest marina rents boat- beautiful mountain backdrop. The Cimarron River below eagle nest is good, better for fly fishing. The Red River in the town of RR has plenty of spots to fish and it regularly stocked with Rainbows.

Head up to the Valle Vidal from Taos and fish the Rio Castillo.

Good question OP, in for the info. Hope you and your brother have a great fishing trip in June. Haven’t been up that way in too long and need to plan a trip back. Thanks to those posting info about this really cool area.

Don’t waste your time on the Costilla, the killed it last fall from the dam down to the lower portion of the Valle Vidal, and the lower parts of Comanche creek. It sucks, but hopefully it will be even better in a few years.... You might try around the town of Red River starting around Memorial Day they keep it pretty stocked with rainbows. If your up for a little adventure, y’all should hike down the the lower Red or the Rio Grande.

If I drive near Taos - "5 Star Burger" even if it is not good for me.

Red River is much nicer than Taos. Stay there.

If you are in Taos, the Kit Carson Museum is worth a look. It is near the square. If you have read Blood and Thunder first, it will be more interesting to you.
