Sako would be my choice as well.

I am lucky enough to have 4 that were ‘generation’d’ to me.

I tend to agree with this.

        I just invested in a Shiloh sharps 1874 45-90

Hopefully my great grandkids will like it.

I’ve got the same gun in 260 always wanted one.
Only other for me would be mod 70 featherweight in 7-08

I’m very blessed to have several that have been passed down to me already.
Pre 64 Winchester mod 70 .243, pre 64 mod 94 .30-30, there’s a Winchester .22 single shot, Piedmont side by side 12 ga, and a couple of Ruger singe action pistols. All will be passed to kids and grandkids when the time is right.

I’m with the Sako crowd. In a common caliber.

Great choice. I just bought my wife the same rifle in 6.5 CM and topped it with a Leupold vx3i 4-14x40. I had heck finding Leupold bases for it as each one was too long and extended into the extractor, so I decided on the Talley 1- piece.

I would probably buy a 270 Winchester Featherweight.

I agree with you on the model 70 Featherweight. I just bought one 2 weeks ago...…. a "generational rifle" that will be handed down to one of my sons. The one I bought was the .264 win mag
