    Watch out for ticks!

Buddy and I were up there this weekend.
I pulled 4 seed ticks off that were crawling around.
Wife found 2 embedded after I got home monday evening.

And I treat my stuff with permethrin.

These dropped from trees I guess [emoji2373]

Had chronic Lymes for almost 4 years.
    Battled it for 3
Beat it after it nearly killed me twice and I have PTSD and a bunch of other issues now thanks to it.

Don’t take tick protection lightly, yall.
Especially in this part of the country.

We don’t have em like this in comal and blanco counties.

Ticks are always bad along the river and under the big live oaks and oak motts. Spray down with repellent anytime I get out and walk any distance. I have also found that high top snake boots really help with ticks and chiggers which are terrible right now.

        Yup
Got me some GatorSkins and treat them and my shoes with permethrin.

Gonna start treating my hat too.

We were shooting and one dropped from a tree.

Anyone find a tick spray that works better than others?
Going to wear my rubber boots with my pants tucked in.

Heading to my lease today for a work weekend/tick-fest. Maybe a little hog hunting if time permits.

Not a bad way to wake up.

I was there a month ago and I think the WT faired pretty good. A good crop of fawns, quite a few turkey, but, the exotics looked a bit thin. Not sure if it’s just from the heat or the stress from the freeze but, overall everything looked good. Going back in a couple weeks. It would be great to meet some of you as well. Good Luck

Do any of y’all hunt off of 1773? Was wondering about that area of the county.

I had about 1.8" in Menard while Gainer Ranch had 4.44" north of town. I had 2.88" 10 miles west on the river. I thought that the river would come up but has not so far, just a little off color.
Not sure what we got on the ranch south of Menard where we really needed it.

Great news we picked up some rain. Farm Logs told me about a 1/2", but I have no idea how accurate that is part of the country. It was pretty dang close when it came to my North Texas place.

                            Gary,

It was great to meet you in FW at TTHA.

Pastures looks pretty and green. Hope you got good rains where ever you are in the county. I saw the first buck in hard horn this last week so we should begin seeing them slick off over the next couple of weeks.
Sorry I did not make it to the San Antonio TTHA Show. Covid has really hit Menard County. Until the government decides to shut down the border, there is going to be a steady stream of carriers passing through the small towns along the major highways coming out of Mexico.
                                Adios,
