My Dad drove from Florida to go hunting with me this weekend. Patience is not something he has much of[emoji16]. So he has never archery hunted.
This old buck came out and made him wait an hour before giving him a shot. First, he wasn’t close enough. Next, there were other deer in front of him and behind him. Then, he was facing us or facing away, he changed several times. Finally, at last light, he was in the clear and slightly quartering away at 27 yards. Dad took the shot. After waiting 30 minutes, we found the bolt covered in blood where the deer was standing at the shot but as we started tracking, we found stomach contents with every drop of blood. We backed out and came back after 2 hours. Found him less than 100 yards from the shot. Entrance was barely behind the shoulder, exit was in the armpit. Cut the back of the heart deeply with a Ramcat mechanical.
