Just throwing this out there for all yall wade fisherman. We stayed at a beach house on Gulf Beach Dr last June and every morning and evening guys would park all up and down the street and wade out into/past this little cove onto the second sand bar and they were hammering the trout. Free parking along the street. Off 257 just after you go over San Luis Pass. Excuse the poor image, but they would park on the side of the street, enter where the arrow is and wade out. Some were catching their own live bait there in the cove, some were throwing plastics....but they were wearin em out.
We left yesterday a.m. from Galveston Island. The wind was very calm when we headed home. It had been very windy our stay there till we headed home. Go figure.
Living on the coast for years I would hit the Galveston Sea Wall rock groins at daylight and smoke the trout in May on top waters and then move off into the surf looking for clear pockets.
Fished the San Luis Pass area this evening with my dad. Caught 7 trout, only 2 kept.
Passing surf side beach on the way out, it took everything I had not to jump in. My old man doesn’t like getting beat up.
Also, place I’ve fished close to 20 years is no longer accessible. Got a warning sticker on my truck. Drove around on the way out and saw a couple no trespassing signs, but none the way I drove in. Good things eventually come to an end.
