Deep cycle, Walmart brand has been serving me well over the years, check water level occasionally with solar use, especially during summer months.

Whatever old vehicle battery I’ve recently replaced. They last a long time on my gate opener with a solar panel or other trickle charger.

Buy a lithium deep cycle battery. Does not have to be big. It will outperform lead in every measurable way.

I always used a deep cycle battery, no issues until 5 or 5 years later and get another one.

I put a marine deep cell on mine with a solar panel. Has worked flawless for 2 years now.

Put a regular, gell cell car battery on it, not a deep cycle. Deep cycles are meant to be drained, then charged back up. A regular battery is meant to be charged more with out being drained, like happens in your car. My Optima battery has been in my opener for 17 years.

Next time I replace mine, it will be with a 12v cold cart battery. I have an deep cycle marine in now but seem like they are made for as many drawn down cycles as a GC. Don’t need CCA so just need the reserve capacity.

Regular car batteries haven’t worked long for me…
I will stick to deep cycle till they don’t work.

Lithium would be the best choice for sure, just make sure the solar charge controller is capable of charging lithium.

Cheap deep cycle and replace it as needed. They usually last about two years are so. JMO!
