At a certain time in my life, every time I got close to a radio this was playing.

Now, when it is time to get up and get moving, this one does it.

These two always take me back to my small town Ozark Foothills roots.
Copperhead Road - Steve Earl
Never Leave Harlan Alive - Patty Loveless version
I spent my formative years among everything these songs and the show Justified portray...mixed feelings that my son will not have that level of true rough-handed blue-collar reality as we've been in the DFW area his whole life. Spending money for me came from bucking bales in the heat of summer, running a string of traps in the cold of winter, and doing assorted other manual labor jobs. Seen several friends go to jail for growing pot, and others losing family members from ailments from working the lead mines and charcoal industry. My Pop made sure all 4 of us kids got college degrees to get us a better start than he ever had...and we've all taken advantage of it. Trying to instill that work ethic with my son, but I wonder if everything comes a little easier to him.
