I go through Motley on my way up, terrain is similar.
1500 lb. free choice, year round.

Average consumption is 1500 lbs a month.
    A bag a day.

Bucks in my pasture dominate the feed pen.
Soon as the corn feeder spins, they are there.
    Eat their fill and leave.

Doe wait until its quiet to feed in peace.

I have zero mature bucks on camera this year.
The draught of 2011-2012 and low fawn recruitment, altered the age structure.
Bucks of those age classes do not exist in my pasture.

50 lbs a day is my limit financially.
Giving the doe the best chance to throw healthy fawns is important to me.

For that reason, I'd probably lean free choice over timed.

    Good luck.

Call your local Purina dealer and have him meet you at your ranch. Discuss price for delivery and if you happy give him a key. I can have it delivered much cheaper than buying it by the bag and I never have to touch it. Since you dont live near the place you can always put up a cell camera that tells you when the feeder is empty.

Make sure a good water source is close by . They will consume a lot more with water close to your protein station.
