Last day for Iowa...

I almost missed the deadline for the Iowa draw. Luckily I got my application in with a few hours to spare. It’s been two years since my last trip up. I came home eating tag soup last time. Hoping to return this Fall and change my luck. Did anybody else put in for this coming season?

I'm in for 1st shotgun season. Switched to shotgun now that it takes 4 points to draw a bow tag. Life was good until outdoor channels brought so much publicity to Iowa.

There are a few zones you can draw an archery tag with 3, but not Zone 5 or Zone 6.

You can draw most any zone with 3 for firearms.

The bucks on our place are putting on some bone.

I just put new batteries in that camera. Believe me. It wouldn't be that green and 75 degrees in January in Iowa. Plus...we did not live here in 2017.[emoji1]

I put in for 1st shotgun in zone 7. I was able to draw it two years ago with only one point. I was going to hold out another year to try for archery but decided against it. I still saw lots of deer and passed on some good bucks early in the week. Hopefully this is the year!

I just got my results. Looks like I’m going to Iowa in December!
That was a quick turn around on the draw. It’s going to be a long 6 months until I can go. Good luck to everyone else.

Point creep in the Iowa draw is real.

I have 3 friends sitting on 4 points that were scheduled to hunt with me this year. All three got the dreaded unsuccessful email today.[emoji3525]

They now have 5 points and will have to wait another year.

I’ll do a live thread this year. Last year I passed up on some good bucks the first day that I was regretting later in the week. That won’t be the case this year... I hope!
