We are hoping to get these fixed this week and figure out another way to prevent this from happening again.

        Coyote Trap Modifications

I made the following modifications to my Duke #2 offset traps:
        - Added a base plate with center swivel
        - Added laminations
        - Change to a 4-coil

I am a terrible welder but hopefully it will make these "cheaper" traps stronger and more durable. I will be setting these out over Memorial Day weekend to try to get rid of some fawn killers.

Well, glad to see the rain. We got 6.5” in Brown Co. But sorry for the road damage. We have lots of road damage in Leon co this year.

I was looking at your situation. If you have some available big rocks to place upstream of that second photo, perhaps you could slow the flow and damage. I like cement low water crossings where there is a dip or channel.

Got another 1/2in of rain out there yesterday. We are almost at 8in for the month of May. We’ll get out there this next weekend and see if we need to bring the cows back on to help keep the grasses down to ensure forbs are able to grow. My hope was to keep the cows off to ensure the fawns have cover but we also want to make sure that there is enough forage for deer as well.

This would be the best way to correct this and be done with it once .

Thanks for the kind words! We are looking forward to it being high fenced and it should be finished this coming week. We will be ordering another feeder from you pretty soon so I’ll be in touch this summer.

You mentioned that y’all were going to add some Blackbuck, have you heard about them being crawlers? I want to put some on our place but I’m not going to put up a high fence, just wire net the exterior fence.

I haven’t heard anything about them being crawlers. We were going to add them this weekend but the ranch we are getting them from is too wet so we are going to figure out another weekend.

Everything looks great out there. I planted silver river clover last fall in one food plot and it has taken off and doing very well (see picture below).

They are starting to hit the cottonseed really hard since the doe are starting to drop their fawns. We added three additional cottonseed feeders and put out 1,800lbs of cottonseed this past weekend.

We set up some snares and a couple of foot-hold coyote traps but didn't catch any coyotes. We did however catch 6 raccoons this weekend. I'll post some more pictures tomorrow.

Those blackbucks look awesome. They will be a fun animal to watch grow as well. Looking good as always.

Looking REALLY good. I missed the high fence also. With all the work you’re putting in, that high fence will really pay off!
