    Low oxygen, brain damage

I detailed my SIL's plight regarding her having a baby and having covid in another thread. Long story short, the docs had to do a C section to save the baby when mom wasn't looking good because her oxygen level was down to upper 80s and less. Since the result of continued lack of oxygen is death and a prolonged lack of oxygen(like near drowning) results in brain damage, what are the chances my niece has some brain damage due to low oxygen levels for several days? Thank you.

I'm no help with your question, but prayers up for mom and baby.

I’ll be praying for y’all and I’m in no shape or form an expert, but I believe the oxygen levels have to be well below that for any substantial brain damage that’s permanent.

The baby did not have covid so this wouldn't apply to the baby. But, Thank you.

Pretty sure the low oxygen has be over a longer period of time to cause significant problems.

Pray mom and baby continue to do well

A friend of ours in her early 40's was having emergency appendix surgery a few weeks ago and died on the table. She was out 15 minutes until they got her breathing again. They put her in a coma for several days and gradually woke her up. She suffered no brain damage. I know a lot of prayers was the difference.
