If it was about winning, Texas wouldn't be asked to sit at the dinner table. Since 2009, Texas' last national title contender, Ok State, TCU, Kansas State, Baylor and West Virginia all have more wins than Texas.. I would assume that there are teams on that list that will be left out because they are not big market schools. Sad state of affairs. Some really good schools that will get crushed in this fiasco bc of greed.
It really is a sad state of affairs and we shall see how good this is for CFB in the long-term. This really can be traced all the way back to the demise of the SWC. Tech and Baylor were lucky and had enough political clout back then to stay at the table. However, even the Big 12 had it's issues early on. The unequal revenue sharing in addition with the annual Neb/OU rivalry going by the wayside. There was stability for a short while, but that didn't last very long, just shy of 15 years. The SWC came to an end in mid 1996...Aggie announced their move to the SEC in 2010.

The rest of the Big 12 without OU/UT is just about screwed on the money. Only KU and IS have the academics to even be considered by the Big 10. The PAC doesn't need to expand; although they could take TTU, OSU and 2 others if they wanted. Baylor and TCU have little hope with their religious affiliations, even if the perception exceeds the reality. WVU is on a island and the ACC turned them down before.

My guess is the neither the Big 10 or PAC do anything initially as neither have to. Regardless, whatever ends up being left in the Big 12 will probably duke it out with the American one way or another in order to form what probably would end up being the 5th best conference. The TV contract would not rival any of the other 4 major conferences, but it probably will be much higher than any other mid-major conference out there.

I agree but things change and the good old days of college football are done. Those left behind will have to fight and claw to survive the best they can, don't mean those athletic programs won't eventually die and the college towns economies won't suffer, it is what it is.

100%, you hit it on the nose on whats going to happen. The way I see it the only way this scenario doesn't play out is if the state legislatures get involved and at this point it doesn't look like thats going to happen.

This is my Gut Feeling. The Big 12 is going to gobble up the best of non power 5 and become the best Non Power 4 conference. Schools like TCU and Baylor are getting screwed in all of this

So you trash my team and I come to their defense by stating facts and that is arrogance?

I know you are a Red Raider fan scorned but come on man.

I feel for Tech and TCU. But Tech does not pull ratings in any sport especially football. Unfortunately because of that they are screwed. The remaining 8 teams on their own just barely out rate the AAC schools. Its almost even. Hope Tech and TCU find landing places but its not going to be easy.

I sure hope they find a way to televise Texas baseball somewhere.

Texas and Oklahoma have been subsidizing the other schools in the Big 12 for years. Before that, Texas subsidized the schools in the SWC. Now they are doing what is best for their programs.

The idea that this will ruin college football is ridiculous. All this is going to do is give people more premier matchups on television than there were previously.

I normally agree with everything you post regarding CFB but I think what some are saying is that college football is more than UT/A&M/OU etc. I’m a die hard SMU fan and when pushed, a longhorn as well, but I just love college football. I love watching TCU, Baylor, Tech and others compete and every once in a while, pull off an upset. I love the underdog, and if this plays out like I’m afraid it is going to, there won’t be any more of that. That sucks.

Aggie did what was good for Aggie, Texas and OU are doing the same. It is what it is, they don’t owe anybody, anything.

The landscape is changing and they chose to be proactive.
