Old Reliable Lures for White Bass

Went back on an old GR5 thread looking for the lures we used.

    Old Reliable Lure Company.

They sell them at Cunningham Bait in Onalaska and Penwaugh Marina in Blanchard.

I always used a speck rig in white and seemed to work fairly well. Mostly doubles when they were schooling.

Road Runner is money in the Spring and when they’re schooling.

Yep, that's what we used to use. I was not sure if it worked in other areas also. We would fish a small **** in the spring time, when the white bass were spawning and the water was flowing over the dam. There would be a lot of dead shad in the churned up water, on the down stream side of the dam. That seemed to bring in a lot of white bass. We would chunk various color Road Runners in the turbulent, fast moving water and catch a lot of white bass. That's the only place I have ever fished for them, so I had no idea, if our way of fishing for them worked elsewhere.

1/4 oz Rattle Trap, little george, blade baits, rooster tail, Creme Little Fishie all rarely fail to catch whites.

Little George is hard to beat. Silver and blue rattle traps.

If they aren’t schooling them slab them using 3/4 to 1oz slabs.

1 oz slabs is bout all i use anymore. If we start catching lots of small fish i move up to 2oz.

We use something similar called duck tracker slabs, they sell them at beacon bay or a little cheaper buy straight from him on fb.

They sell a slab called a feenky(idk how it's spelled) at the marina in Somerville.

If you wanna throw a slab it should be that. They're ugly, heavy, and catch fish.

I know the owners. They recently bought the company. Good people.

White Bomber slabs from Walmart. We call them 218’s because that’s how much they cost.
