Claudette remained a tropical storm until just before making landfall in Port O'Connor, Texas, when it quickly strengthened to a strong Category 1 hurricane on the Saffir-Simpson Hurricane Scale. On Matagorda Island, the local weather station measured winds of 75 mph (121 km/h)—the only official report of hurricane-force winds along the coastline. However, several offshore oil rigs reported winds of up to 90 mph (140 km/h), and one unofficial reading in Seadrift indicated winds of 96.6 mph (155.5 km/h).

The 55 mph S's are a lot better than the 1,2,3's,. Get the rain coats and boats ready, we'll just have to watch out for flooding and tornadoes. Going to mess up opening weekend of bow season along the middle to upper gulf coast. Not the end of the world but heck we've already had our flood allotment. Just how many 500 year storms are you allowed in a decade. SMH.

Edit: Right now I guess we're seeing why our coastline is shaped like it is.

I think this thing is going to be a big flop if that shear doesn’t let up. No convection to the West. Never has been.

Looking like it’s going way east of us. Rain chances have dropped. Will be shocked if we get any.

Looking at the radar it looks to me like it is jogging to the SW now. I could be totally wrong though.
