I got my dad set up in his bow blind this morning. He is 81 and had to walk to stand with a cane. I had a shooting rest set up with the crossbow on it and after about 15 minutes of adjustments he was settled. I have been feeding protein all year at his stand which is 50 yards from the house. He had a big 8 coming in alongside several other bucks. Well when the big buck came in he got excited and couldn’t find the safety. Some other bucks spooked and everything left. Then one of the other bucks came back behind the feeder and he let one rip. He said the deer was 35 yards or so. The buck ran a semi circle and. Then was walking slowly with its head down. Before it made it out of sight he said he thought it stumbled. We was very flustered when he called me. I told him we would wait a couple hours and put my dog on the trail. Well I went to track the buck and it was 5 ft from where he last saw it. I called him and let him know. This may may be the last deer he ever gets to kill but it was great to see that he still got excited after 70 years of hunting.
