USPS is how I have done it in the past. In a case which was inside a box.
Edit to put in USPS not UPS, UPS will not touch a firearm or parts.

Yes, only at a UPS regional hub.
USPS freaked out last time I tried to ship a long gun with them.

I almost found that out the hard way with UPS, I had to beg a guy to finally ship it as "machine parts".

Yes
I've done it through USPS without any problems. I just went to the local post office with the rifle already packaged in a box. Only once have they asked what it was, and when i let them know they simply said "ok"
