How do you shoot dove?

Start your swing then butt, bird, beak, and Boom!

This always works for me..... of course I pick my shots too, so I don't have to get very far from the cooler to pick them up.

I wait until they get really close then I shoot them with my 30'"barrel full choke so it tears the hell out of them. That way I get to have fun shooting those flying Javalinas and not have to mess with trying to eat them.

All great advice above, but I'll add this since I didn't see it mentioned. Make sure your gun fits and throws up well for you! It may be a $300 gun or $3000 gun, but if it dosen't fit YOU well you will always struggle. Also pattern your gun and see how it does. I'd start with a more open choke like IC and go from there. About the tightest choke I ever shoot for dove is light mod. Lastly I spend alittle more money and buy decent shells. It makes a difference!

OP. I think what your really asking is how can you hit more of the birds you are shooting at.

IMO. Shoot more. Go buy a pallet of shells and shoot them all on the skeet field or clays course. You will improve. I know no other way.

Instinctively. Like throwing a baseball. Am I extremely accurate? No. Do I sometimes shoot all 3 shells at one bird only to watch it fly away? Yes.

Normally takes me about 3 boxes to get a limit. I can get it thou. Lol

4 methods;
Spray and pray, as in shoot everything you got at em and pray to hit one

Snap shoot kind of like quail hunters flushing birds

Long lead in front

Start behind bird and as your sight line clears beak blast em.

When I dove hunted regularly the last 3 worked well and I would use those 3 throughout hunt.
