I use sardines... I have no problem eradicating skunks as well.

Heard the same about sardines....I shy away from both. No interest in possibly dealing with a stinkin polecat.

I use dry cat food. Even caught as big feral tom cat once!

Don't mean to jack the thread but I thought this would be better than starting a whole other one.

How do you guys set the traps? is there a tool to use?

                  Thanks and sorry.

                      Several ways....

                      1) with your hands if you are strong enough

                      2) with the Duke tool they sell (here in orange)

                      3) With a 6" piece of 3/4" PVC (my favorite and seemingly the easiest.) We keep 2-3 pieces in our 5 gallon trap bucket for easy access.

My dad was a coon hunter, trapper and fur dealer. His standard bait for coon was vanilla wafers. A coon just cannot pass them up.

I use strawberry or grape jelly out of the packets. Very clean and easy

I've used marshmallows. Corn. And cat food. Moon pies and nilla wafers sound good to me!! Heck I might be hung in those traps in the morning!!

marshmallows or cat-food here. Beware the push pull traps will definitely catch neighbors cats too... Never caught a cat with the pull only style.. Funny cat food and caught a cat.. Dang it..
