    tree id

    has about an 8" diameter trunk.
    12 - 15' tall but cant determine canopy diameter because of surrounding brush.
    leaves are 4" to 8"

              Looks like a Fruitless Mulberry. They'll make a lot of shade, but are some of the ugliest trees ever made.

                The leaf shape makes me think you’re probably right. The leaves will probably round out as it matures (if you keep it). Fruit or not, if you can pay close attention to pruning it’s a fast growing tree that is hardy enough. The wood gives a sweet aroma and is good for smoking poultry and probably pork, but takes a while to season.

                I have several in three or four varieties and like them.

                    One way to check is to break a small limb. Mulberry oozes a white latex from under the bark. At least the one I cut down did.
