Long Coral Snake

Spotted this pretty little thing trying to escape the cat tonight near my driveway. This is the second coral snake i have ever seen here. According to interwebs, most are pretty short but this one looks lengthy. I should have put a tape to it before letting it go.

I have only seen the 12"-14" ones

Most coral snakes I see are 12-18 “ anything bigger than 18” is pretty big in my book

I killed a big one in my back yard a couple of years ago, probably 36-38 inches.

Good man, coral snakes are essentially harmless....unless you are messing with one.

That is a good sized one, they are beautiful snakes.

i have seen only two in the wild one was about 24" the other was at least 36"

Even in the Amazon where everything is bigger and meaner, Coral snakes we saw were only a couple feet at most. That's a pretty good size one.

That’s a big corral snake.

The longest Texas Coral Snake on record was right around 48" I believe.
