Insects yes, Mosquitoes, no... Just watch the video... lots of bugs but they sure did not look like mosquitoes to me... I've seen these insect tornadoes before on a smaller scale, and they were more of a fly/gnat type of insect. That's what these looked like in the video...
Cattle/lifestock killed by suffocation/inhaling them... That has happened on the coast before too...

Yessir!! Been there, done that!! I've seen some bad skeeters in some really remote places in my lifetime, but that place is by far the worst I've ever seen!! Killed a buck on one of the draw hunts there and mosquitoes were so bad, when we were dragging him out to a road and we'd stop to catch our breath in the 90 degree 100% humidity, we'd have to put a rag over our nose/mouth to keep from inhaling the clouds of mosquitoes!! That year, they lost a lot of cattle from inhalation of mosquitoes and suffocating...
