Buncha oil/gas/pipeline/offshore money over there, and hunters are putting it to good use and managing beautiful properties well. I started to see it in NE La. when I used to run around over there starting 15 years ago.

Biggest deer I have ever killed was a doe near Shongaloo in NW La.

                      NW Louisiana Monster

Not just NW Louisiana, but the whole state is good. What majority of people fail to realize is Louisiana is extremely fertile land and the deer grow to enormous sizes when left to mature. The public land all over the state, while very difficult to hunt in some instances, produces monsters every year. Some spots are only accessible by airboats and such. I grew up in the marsh down in deep south Louisiana and the marsh deer are more like big raccoons than the deer from the swamps and bottom lands just miles north. It gets even better if you own and can manage the land. Along the Mississippi river is some of the best deer hunting the South can ever provide. You think Texas deer lease is hard to come by or expensive here? Avoyells, Point Coupee, Feliciana, East Feliciana, Concordia, and Tensas Parishes have waiting lists for years to get on them and will blow your mind to see the price tag on some. Every now and then you find a decent priced one with an opening. If you do. Take it asap cus it wont last a week. Thats part of the reason the Primos guys have Cottonmouth on the Mississippi in the very corner of LA, Miss, and Arkansas. How cool would it be to have the same herd and multiple states and tags on the same farm.
Far north like Monroe or along the sabine are similar herds to east texas and Arkansas.

Yep there’s some giants in Louisiana, just hard as heck to kill.

Was the deer in the OP killed in Tensas Parish?

Lol at the Oklahoma comments [emoji57].
