Had a doe fawn come by at 3 yards. Seen 3 other deer out a ways real early. May turn out okay.

In a little four corners spot along a dry creek. Saw a deer earlier but it was walking into my scent stream and although I never heard it blow it never got down the draw to me. It's warm and fairly humid. The solid rain from earlier made sure of that.
Gets dark an hour earlier here even though it is also CST here. After that sun sets it gets dark in the timber quick. I'll pick a different stand in the morning though .

Sat a new stand on a ridge between two wooded draws last night. Had a doe and fawn come by me late. May should have shot her. Fawns have no spots here and I know it would be okay most likely but I kinda have avoided killing doe with fawn early in season over the last few years.
May have to get over that.
Mid 80s last night. 70ish this morning. Gonna his a stand called the gap this morning. We'll see.

Well momma used to tell me no news is good news but in this case I'd have to disagree.
I see deer but it's usually coming and going. Honestly the biggest issue is mobility. His stands are in locations that seem good and probably will be at some point during the season. This time of year here you have to move to adjust for what they have decided to feed on. Be it planted crops, clover or mast dropping. Most of the stands are in the timber and that probably is great when the acorns are raining down or the rut is going on. Right now though they are hitting clover and ag crops.
So I went up to my place and picked up a folding tripod and I'm fixin ta go put it up. Today I'll set it on a tank as it's gonna be a pretty warm afternoon. I may pull it after that and put it down in a corner where I've seen some feeding in the morning on the mowed edge of some CRP where there is a bunch of clover sown in.
This isn't sitting on a feeder in Texas.
So I gotta work at it a little and hope I figure it out, and get a little lucky, before my time runs out here

Tight quarters tonight. Pond to the west in the timber, draw to the east in the timber. I'm on a ten foot portable tripod set up under a huge oak and it will be a miracle if any deer doesn't pic me off drawing my bow. But first one has to come by. Acorns, cover and water. Tracks in mud at pond. We'll see.
