        Was paying $10/acre.

I executed the handshake lease on two places near home several years ago. Very fortunate to have both of these places this year, and with no lease payment my play money went way up! Well, its not play money anymore lol.

We pay 1500 for 130 acres. It is 2 guns and 15 miles from the house. 750 per gun and 11.50 per acre. It has lots of cover.

Between property taxes and income tax I pay quite a bit to hunt public land

So why don't you buy a big ranch and let us all come and hunt for free ?

I think of my lease costs as multiple mini vacations throughout the year. Is it expensive? Yes. But when it’s split between 6-8 “mini vacations it’s cheap. BTW, my lease is 3000 acres, year round access, with guest privileges.
