I sense the force is strong with you

Huntable public land is going to disappear as population increases. State Parks are over run with bikers and hikers.
I'd like to see a system where private land owners are incentivized to open their land at certain times of the year to the public for fishing, hunting, and trapping. I'd like to see a significant property tax incentive or abatements given to those who allow managed public access to their land. I think that if the state offered these incentives and indemnified the property owner for the risk associated with this, then we would way more opportunities to hunt.

If you are drawn for a hunt that you have points for...you will lose those points regardless of you go on hunt or not. They are lost and you start over.

If you have points for a certain hunt and you are not.selexted for that hunt. Your point are Carried over the next year. You don't lose them unless you apply selected for the hunt. Even if you apply and dont get pick they are saved until you ARE selected

Really excited for my 1st txpw hunt, but less so the more I read about the particulars, (escorted to the blind and picked up by park staff, assigned blinds, not allowed out of blind to hunt) but I'm still happy about getting to put a hunt on the family calender. Any info offered would be helpful (ive already read all threads on here) apparently I should bring Doritos and shake the bag?!?

Any Hunts y'all are interested in, call and see if they have standbys available. I got out more than not last year. I win one hunt a year, I put it for a bunch. Went standby to kerr WMA and got picked 2 hunts in a row, 3 times in a row at Schneider park in Kerrvile. Learned about string jumping there.
The stand hunts aren't bad just be sure to bring everything you might need. Really sucks if you leave broadheads in your truck.

Thank you lord for a really passionate hunter that is thinking out the box to preserve our culture . I’m told Texas started as a republic that’s why we don’t have many public lands here . In the south east ,Florida, buys lands to provide for the Public ( the red blooded hard working hard playing American ) hunters. I believe this to be the most progressive method of attaining the above stated goal. Also I would like to also offer this little morsal of thought , let’s make sure a working American family has access to hunt deer y’all . I mean walk in by seasonal traditional hunting. In the hill country folks complain about the netting and euthanizing of deer on mass. But they won’t allow folks to hunt deer to control them . The only driving distanced hunt for deer in Austin, is a draw system ( Post card hunts ) for deer in their PHL. Why ? Help me !
No limit on does, one guy killed 13 last year.

For the hunting, there are lots of deer in that area. And you will be assigned to a well-built blind. They may set up a feeder as well, but I would bring one or two bags of corn just in case. The spots of setup are supposedly at a good spot. But, what I found out that it might depend on when your hunt would be. My son's last hunt spot was too close to park road. It could be a good spot in early fall when most leaves were still on the trees. But, when we hunted in Dec., lots of leaves were gone. The feeder was wide open to traffic road, so deer did not show up when it was light, even we saw deer moved in the thick woods. Hunting at an assigned blind is good or bad. The good is that you literally will do nothing except to pull the trigger; the bad is that you lose the "freedom" of your hunt. It is worth to try if you are new to Texas public hunt. If the park management gets improve, it would be more better.

Doe only really sucks but I will take what I can get. Got a doe last week, rest of the time I spent throwing acorns or rocks at the bucks.
