A little extra weight can save you some times. I had a large hog spin on me as I released once. I hit it right in the middle of the ham, cutting the ball joint off, it exited through a shoulder blade and went so far I didn't even go look for it. That bow was 77#.

Thank you, and I agree. Not just with the heavy bow but with using equipment that allows for when things don't go right. Ive always leaned towards the side of overcompensation I guess. My long bow is only 55 lbs but I shoot as much weight as I can tune out of it, and have always had great results wit it as well.

I believe we should shoot as much in weight as we can accurately and health wise handle. Better to have and not need than need and not have.

Speed does help, they can move alot further when arrow is going 180 vs 280. Weight vs speed is the ultimate debate in archery.
