How long can water moccasins hold their breath underwater?
Snakes can hold their breath for up to several minutes if they are relaxed and not exerting any extra energy. Some snakes can hold their breath underwater for 10 minutes or even as long as an hour.

You ain't gonn find a water moccasin on the bottom of a river swimming around looking for something to eat! Just watch one swim... They stay on TOP of the water unlike a true water snake does... They are a pit viper and not compatible with deep dives to look for food or hang out in a hole to ambush anyone or anything...

Just found out it is best to do it around spawning time. No bait necessary.

                            Per another coonie.

Zactly what I was think-n. Spawn-n time. And bait to get them in.
