Two turkeys this morning with my Ruger SBHH 41 magnum. Made quesadillas out of one for lunch. Delicious!

Nice thread here. Makes me wanna break out my 44 Redhawk with 2 x Leupold. Never shot a deer with it but it was always with me as a back-up and close shots. Never got the right shot on a deer though.

Head or body shots? HP or flat nose pills?

210 grain Speer Deepcurl. One was Texas heart shot. The other a head shot.

              scope question

I think I want to scope my Super Blackhawk Hunter. I have never shot a scoped pistol.
Is variable power important? It seems like an 8:1 one scope would not be especially helpful for hunting.

Or would you stick with a 1.5 or 2.0 to 1 fixed.
Also if anybody in the Houston area has one they want to part with let me know.
I'm thinking of a Nikon or Weaver, but open to anything.
              Thanks in advance

Variable is always nice to have in case you need it for longer distances. Especially on smaller animals. But then again if all you plan to use it for are shots 75 yards and under on deer and hogs, a 2X will serve you just fine. And...you can buy a very nice used 2X Leupold handgun scope off an auction site for pretty cheap. Nothing wrong with Nikon or Weaver either. The only brand of handgun scopes I suggest staying away from is Burris. Their eye relief is horrible when you dial up the magnification.

Good luck and show us your set up once you decide!

Congrats on the 40 yard doe!

I can now add this one to the mix-

Judge using .45lc Hornady lever revolution ammo. ~15 yard shot- rib cage (other side) with no exit.
No blood trail- I only found her because I stubbornly didn’t stop looking due to not to believing that I missed at that distance.

I did gut this doe to try and recover the bullet- insides were a wreak, gave up on finding the bullet .

Punched my last tag this morning on a doe. Outstanding season.
