I've never been the type that would ask but we definitely need them. First off I'm sorry if I come across with a lack of details, or knowledge as to what's going on but here it is.
My son Baron is 8 years old and will be 9 on 9/11, he is our world. About 6 weeks ago his eyelid started swelling up, after multiple doctors visits, a trip to the ER for a CT scan, and a trip to the specialist we thought we had it figured out. The specialist thought it was a chalazion and prescribed some eye ointment and antibiotics. Everything looked good and off on vacation we went, Everything looked fine and going back to normal until we got back home in San Antonio. His eyelid swelled back up, back to the specialist she just prescribed more eye ointment. Something didn't feel right so we went to another specialist, he was dumbfounded, he had no idea said we did everything right and called a colleague and set another appointment.
Monday the 15th my wife took him in to the third specialist. He said he had a rare disease and his orbital bone was deteriorating, and ordered an MRI. After fighting with insurance it took 3 days to get an MRI scheduled, we had that done today then back to the specialist. The specialist confirmed what he thought it was and said there was a mass on his orbital that was deteriorating the bone and reccomended a biopsy/surgery. I wish I could remember what he called it but once he started talking about the mass in the MRI everything was kind of a blur. He doesn't think it's cancerous but it's all i could think about and my wife was an emotional wreck. The paperwork was forwarded to another doctor who will contact us next week. Current doctor said the mass is benign. I'll update as I gather more info, I kept cool in the office but as soon as I got to my truck I lost it. It literally felt like my heart was being cut from my chest, we need to stay strong but the thought of my boy going through this and the thought of cancer scares the hell out of me. I've never had anything hurt this bad, I don't know where to turn. All I can think of at the moment is to ask for prayers and hope like hell the doctor is right and it's not any type of cancer.
