Automatic feeder recommendations for bears in AK

Soooo I need recommendations for a new automatic feeder for spring brown bear up here. Battery needs to last 30 days only.. It needs to be 6v and a big enough motor to sling dog food. Had a cheap Amazon 4AA battery feeder this spring to test out the idea… worked great, but needs more juice with the cold weather(and a bear ripped it off lol). Solar isn’t really an option due to the tree canopy. Only going off twice a day for about 10 seconds each time. Thank you, b

I know Greengo feeders made in Brownwood Texas will hold up to small black bears..not sure about Alaska brownies…

55 gallon drum with a small hole cut in the side chained to a tree is what a lot of AK guys use.

Can you explain why 6 volt? Most any 12 volt motor will sling dog food without issue. Are the tree limbs large enough to hold a barrel feeder if winched up? That’s the best way because there’s nothin the bear can reach. I would get a 30 gallon barrel and place a pulley on the limb then use a cranking winch to raise and lower it.

Hoist the barrel up high to keep it out of reach! This feeder utilizes the Super Pro Mag Feeder Kit that features large diameter, closely spaced 16-gauge steel varmint guards to keep critters from reaching the spin plate. The metal spin plate has four outlets to help increase the feed coverage area. This feeder kit is highlighted by a dual battery compartment that will house up to two 6V 5Ah batteries (sold separately) for extended battery life. Accessing the battery compartment on the Super Pro Mag Feeder Kit is easy. Just turn the grooved handle counterclockwise one click to pull the battery cover straight down. Be sure not to force the handle beyond one click. Once open, scheduling your feed times is simple with the Easy Set digital timer. It has a durable sealed housing plus coiled cable that allows you to make changes right in your hand. You'll also find removable cleats on the kit around which you can wrap any loose cords from solar accessories. Easy Set timer: This programmable digital timer allows you to schedule up to 10 feed times per day on specific days of the week. Feed times can be set for 1-60 seconds in duration, and you can choose from Hi/Med/Low spin cast settings. The timer's display includes a battery level indicator and feed level estimator so that you know when you need to charge/replace the battery or add more corn to the hopper. Learn how to program your timer by watching our tutorial. Warranty: Another bonus - the Super Pro Mag Feeder Kit comes with a limited lifetime warranty!FEED RECOMMENDATIONS Feed should be around .25 inches in diameter or smaller on its longest side. Whole, clean kernel corn is recommended. Corn mixed well with soybeans or protein pellets can be effective; however, mixing could cause clogging depending on the ratio of corn to the additive or type/brand of the additive. Do not use protein pellets alone, as they will absorb moisture and swell, causing the feeder to clog. For protein pellet feeding, we recommend using one of our polymer gravity feeders, the Ranch Series Gravity Feeder, or the Ranch Series Auger Feeder/Kit. Do not use mineral powders or feed containing mineral powders, as they can cause corrosion of metal parts. For feeding with blends containing protein pellets and mineral powders, we recommend using one of our polymer gravity feeders. The Moultrie Super Pro Mag 30 Gallon Hanging Feeder is ideal for areas with bears, hogs and pesky raccoons. This feeder utilizes the Super Pro Mag Feeder Kit that features large diameter, closely spaced 16-gauge steel varmint guards to keep critters from reaching the spin plate. A 4-outlet spin plate helps increase the feed coverage area. A dual battery compartment will hold two 6-volt rechargeable batteries for twice the battery life. The all-new design of the Super Pro Mag features easy battery access with a simple twist on/off knob, new updated timer control with a durable sealed housing and coiled cord for quick setting adjustments, and removable cleats offer a place to wrap loose solar-panel cords. The durable 30-gallon steel barrel will hold up to 200 pounds of corn while the digital timer can be set to feed up to 10 times per day from 1-60 seconds. All this comes with a lifetime warranty, too!   WARNING: This product can expose you to chemicals including Lead which is known to the State of California to cause cancer. Maybe I need to go with a 12 volt then. I thought the big ones only took 6v batteries. I’m already winching It up…15 feet in the air…old spreader was spreading It in a 45 foot diameter(batteries didn’t last due to cold)… they are just like Texas deer, they key off the sound when It goes off… It takes them longer to feed when they gotta search for It… plus I only was putting out about 10 pounds a day… i can go 2 weeks without restocking…not having to pack in as much food like others… when you have a barrel on the ground a sow and a few cubs can feed It out in an hour….I’ll never run a barrel on the ground again…Thanks guys.

For dog food you might be better off with a good fish feeder?
