I set mine up in the open along a main road
Deer and pigs walk by it just like any other object out there.
I was proud of my painting skills till I saw some of these.
Mine is a 8’x8’ base 6 foot tall but more importantly in the afternoon shade of a large oak tree.

For those that don’t have big enough trees for shade I used a cattle panel attached to the sides and arched over the top. You can take some carpet, army netting or just a bunch of cedar branches and place on top. Creates a canopy above the blind to keep it cooler and helps break up the outline a little.

As others have stated I don’t think it’s that important that they be brushed in as long as you get them out there early enough for deer to get used to them.
It probably doesn’t hurt to take some black spray paint and break up the windows with a tree pattern. It’s easy and cheap. Shade trees don’t hurt either.
                        Here is my Maverick.
