Yea, definitely no shortage of slopes in the area. Plus you can step over to Stateline to hit the casinos or grab a show.

Check this service out, saw it on local Denver station this week : https://slopethreads.com/

Might save some of you a bit of cash on ski clothes.

If breck is a **** show like it was last year, check out A basin. More relaxed vibe and less people

You don't need any special clothes. Blue jeans and longjohns. Warm socks, long sleeve undershirt, medium jacket and stocking cap. Scotch guard your pants if you want.

Well from watching James Bond movies years ago, I would say avoid trees and guys on skis with machine guns. Never looked like my thing, if I ever went some place where there were large mountains, I would only be thinking of hunting, not sliding down the mountains on flat pieces of wood.

You can buy a ski bib in most department stores in that part of the county for $30 or so. Add a set of long johns, jacket, gloves, goggles and hat and you are good. I do not get very sore, but I do run and have skied for a long time.

I lived in Tahoe a couple of years ago, was the HR Director for Kirkwood...kind of a cool gig. It’s not the town or the locals that are “uppity”, it’s all the san fran crowd that comes in like they own the place.

                  Lessons for sure.

I have all the gear you need if you want to borrow anything. Please don’t do camo or columbia...don’t be a gayper...Texas already has a bad rap out there...ha.

Don’t overthink it, sure, you’re gunna be sore...but you may discover a super fun way to spend some time on the hill!!

Hope you have a blast...PM me if you’re needing gear.

Take a ski lesson first day in morning, will help tremendously. Take some advil and icy hot with you.

You are going to be sore if you don't ski often. Even the best will be after the first runs of the year. What makes you sore mostly is falling and getting back up. You can tootle around on bunny hills all day, never fall and not be sore but who wants to do that? If you go off in 4 ft of powder in the glades and get crazy you are going to be sore.vif you rip up extreme terrain and wipe out a few times you will be sore.

I've been snowboarding extreme terrain for 30 years. I kinda know my ****. Lol.

Lol. Show us what you got.

Extreme probably isn't the right term. Since Kirkwood has been mentioned I managed to ride the Wall a few years ago for the 10th time. Whales Tail at Breck. Took the snowcat to the top of Keystone (above lift served terrain). That's all within the last 5-6 years. I'm 51 now. Blacks and double blacks are good enough. The doubles would be extreme for the average Joe from Texas.

The Wall at Kirkwood is where it is at. Best skiing in Tahoe. Started snow skiing in 1984

                            Wouldn't that be "water skiing"?

First tip: ditch the ski’s and get a board

Second: lunges and jump squats will help more so than lifting. Get your cardio up.

Third: stretch and work on getting flexible

Fourth: drink a beer or two, or three. Something about beer and the slopes they just go together
