2017 vs 2018 - Age and Score Opinions

This is a north Texas deer. Body weight is probably 150 - 160. I had a really dry summer and never saw this deer at a protein feeder.

I got him at 5.5 this year. He made a pretty decent jump. I could go either way on killing him or giving him 1 more year.

I got him mid 130's maybe pushing upper 130's

Also got his weight over 160

I can't decide on letting him walk or not either. He hangs out where he's most likely not going to get shot so he has a decent chance of being around next year if I let him walk. Because of that I may give him a pass and see what he does with a wetter summer.

You should not let that pig walk!

Now you got me back on the fence!

Maybe I'll see him this weekend. If I grab for my bow instead of my binos when he walks out I'll know what to do.

Good chance he is 6.5 from what I can see. He may not get any better next year but he probably wont go down. Wouldn't make fun of you for letting the air out of him this year or next. Nice deer.

              Kill that pig!

Is this your deer lease or your ranch. I know y’all got a ranch but didn’t know if you picked up a deer lease? I know if I’m ever on the fence about any buck on my place then I’ll let him go. I think it’s smart to always let 10 plus points get another year especially if your on a good supplement program or putting in food plots. What county in north Texas. Are most the mature bucks (6.5 year old) in your area around the 170lb range on the hoof? There are just so many questions i would need to know to make the right decision and Everybody has different mindsets on management or having a good time and making memories. I could pass that deer and feel good or kill him and feel good about my decision. Whatever you choose keep us in formed. By any chance do you have any pics of other deer that you know are 5 or 6 years old to compare.

I'd say 3 last year, 4 this year
