    Wifes fence vs reality

We just bought some property and need to fence about 1200 feet. My wife wants 4x6 posts with 1x6 corral board. 4 board wood fence. Cost of material only is roughly 13,000. Now the good ol t-post and field fence with metal corners and bracing my buddy will build for 3,000. Thats including material and labor. What to do...

And then you have to paint it and keep it maintained.

Board fences are pretty for a month or so after they are finished. If you go board fence at least you'll always have a project maintaining it. Not no but hell no.

Wood looks much nicer but requires lots more maintenance.

Maybe corral boards on the front and then transition to field fence somewhere on the sides?

Go with wire, wood will not hold up over time.

Wood fences look great but are a pain to maintenance and seem to always need maintenance. GOOD LUCK!

Go with wire and appease her with a nice entrance gate.

Go with the wire and tell her when the wire needs replacing, you will go with the wood.

The 4x6 post seem a bit much and driving the price up.
This isn’t cheap either but we used square post and horse stall channel. Using horse channel will require a 2”x6”
