if you want a tax refund in future years, go change your W4 to withhold at the single and 0 allowance rate. Your employer will take more money from your check, send it to the gov, then when you file your taxes you can get your money back.

your rant is what triggered the dik wad responses.

It's a small miracle she found 1 man to knock her up, much less 4. Whatever you're imagining, it's probably not that good. If you're imagining a bowling ball with legs sitting on a pile of feces squirting milk at her fatherless children across the room, you're in the ballpark.

I apologize, but if I have to live with it, so do you all.

I'm getting $74 back. The first time I have gotten any refund in years. I adjusted my withholding a little, but started cramming a lot into my 457 plan. I like paying myself rather than the gubment. So between lowering my taxable income, my donations, etc. I finally get a refund. It was going to be close to $600, but the 1099 Misc for contract work negated most of it.

That's ok. If they don't owe me and I don't owe them, it's all good.

Let me make sure I understand:

                          you make $100,000/yr

you are able to pay cash for your childs college

you had the government withhold almost EXACTLY the amount of money that they needed to (which kept a maximum amount of money in your pocket each month throughout the year without having to pay anything else additionally to them at the end of year)

AND YOU ARE UPSET ABOUT IT?

Do you realize how BLESSED you are?

You are in a good spot. My goal is to be as close to break even as possible and save my money on my own terms. Only reason we get any back this year is because we now have two kids in day care.

Before kids we paid up to 300 one year and usually got back less than 200 others.

I’m curious what the requirements are. When I was in college and no longer under an athletic scholarship my dad stopped claiming me and I was able to get some financial aid and grants. I was working through college though and paying for it myself.
