From our experiences in our area. If we don't or can't find a deer with in 2 hours the coyote will be all over it. I've seen them on a deer that was alive 25 minutes after it was shot. Wild raw wide open spaces out there.

That's very kind. I really appreciate it.

If the shot was 5” below the spine I want to say dead deer, but a lot depends on if he was shooting from the ground or an elevated blind. Best of luck, I still think y’all will find him

I hope he finds but in my experience 99% of the time where people think they hit a deer and where they actually hit the deer are two totally different places.

... I need to go back and find that pick I have of the "void" ppl are saying doesn't exist...

I'm not as hopeful as some here... If actually 5 inches low should be top of both lungs, won't bleed much if that high.

I'm worrying it's only 2-3 inches high and slightly back from where thought... If you got a dog guy I might get him lined out for the am

Ain't no way I'd wait until morning to go look for that deer. Morning means IF there's a recovery, all you get it horns. Look tonight and if you find him, GREAT. If no recovery tonight, you can always look tomorrow. You'll know if you jump him. In my estimation, it's wasteful not to go look tonight.
