There's a guy with a youtube channel that reviews rat/mouse traps and supposed rodent deterrents. He set that trap up in his barn with a camera - it is a really ingenious design. The co2 powered striker kills them in an instant.

Fyi, I bought one of the new rectangular shaped ones at Tractor Supply and had to return it because it didn't work.
Ill vouch for these as well. Have probably killed north of 50 rats with them. Work great and SUPER easy.

Since you got rots, mink and cats may be out. How about a couple terriers? Jack Russell's are used to catch mice and rats... make sport of it

Where you at I got a terrier that will hammer them lol

Cats are hard as hell on birds too is only issue

Get a couple fixed barn cats from the pound and let em rip

Water bucket trap works too but o think trapping them out is hard to break the cycle

I prefer the large old style Victor traps. I bait it with a half shelled pecan. Put the bait keeper between the meat of the nut and the shell. They can't pull it off. Absolutely deadly to rats and mice. Try to keep it away from birds, squirrels, raccoons, and of course your dogs.

Our dogs like to hunt vermin too. The only problem is they will absolutely wreck a barn in the process.
