So Thursday March 14, 2019 I was laid off my job due to Organizational Restructure. Was offered a decent severance package so no worries. I hit the ground running and have been applying for jobs all over my area; not really wanting to relocate. My past supervisor contacted me via text message and referred me to one of their competitors, so on a whim I took the drive there and met with the Plant Manager.
That was Last Monday, March 18, he called me on Tuesday March 19 and ask if I could make it back over to the plant to meet with the CEO and President/CFO. So I did that on Wednesday the 20th. Got a call on Friday the 22nd asking if I could make it back there today; which I did.
Happy to say that I am NOW employed as a Production Superintendent at J Bar B Foods. Matched my salary from before, full benefit package, plus bonus structure, and 3 weeks vacation.. Also a reduction in the number of hours worked per day..
Down side is I now have a 35 minute commute to work versus the 8 minutes I had before.
Guess the Old Saying IS true, When One Door Closes ANOTHER OPENS....
