They die without the warm water even on a mild winter, we drew a fairfield hunt the December after they turned off big brown and there were dead and struggling tilapia all over the banks.

I bet all the redfish are gone too.

They had some type of ultra mega fish kill. Can’t remember reason, but it was insane and it wiped them out.

Lake went down 3’ when all the cast chunkers stepped out of the water

It's a nice little park now and the fishing is great since the lake cooled off. Hope they continue to lease it to the State park.

It was golden algae that killed the fish.

I wonder if they still have Tilapia in the lake.

                  Are the cattails still there?

Fairfield used to have huge cattail beds that came way out into the water. You could pitch a jig in there all day and catch fish before the water would get to hot. Now with the generator turned off I have not fished it at all.

I haven't seen any. The mass exodus of the cast netters is enough to prove that. If there were any there they wouldn't have left.

Too bad. Only place I knew where to catch them.

They did have a big fish kill in 2011? but I think that was because of high water temps and low oxygen, the Tilapia were still in there until they shut the plant down for good.

Martin Lake should still have tilapia because the plant is still operating.

This it what caused 3 big fish kills on the lake since 2011.

Grew up fishing, swimming, and taking girls there at night to do fun stuff. End of an era for sure, but it's been dead for a few years now.
