They wouldn't sell them if they weren't money makers.

Since we're already off topic, I guess road hazard on tires is a good buy as well? [emoji849]

I always get the road hazard from discount tire. Paid for itself many many times.

How does it pay for itself? Legit question. Everytime it's been offered to me, it is within $20 of new tire cost. Only way I can see it paying for itself is if you have to replace 2 or more tires under it. If that's the case, and you've used it several times, you've got bad luck with tires.

They used to be 35 bucks a tire or so, and in the construction business, driving off road a lot, and just putting a lot of miles....mine payed for themselves many times over. Also, I buy expensive tires.

I can understand that, in the construction business. But you still payed $140 a set for tires that cost what $150-170 a piece, just in case you needed it. If you use it you save $10-30 if not you wasted $140. Hazardous roads (construction sites) changes the game a little.

I don’t normally pay for the replacement certificates but these tires came with them when I bought them and was glad they did. $160 to have all 4 tires replaced.

New tires out the door would have been over $1200.

You're getting all 4 replaced under road hazard if you ruin 1 tire? Or you're ruining all 4 tires?

I guess I will stop buying the certificates. Got used to it running a truck in and out of junk yards and picking up all kinds of crap in the tires.........

Hey, if it works for you roll with it.
I am pretty sure it’s been proven you most likely won’t get your money back.

Glad we had the extended warranty on my wife’s expedition. It replaced a fuel pump and turbo. Easily would’ve been over the cost of the warranty for either repair. But according to some on this thread, it was a poor investment and I should be flogged.

I don't think anyone is calling for a flogging. I think just pointing out the obvious, if it wasn't a HUGE money maker for them, they wouldn't push them so hard. Same as a casino, (money maker for them) except people enjoy gambling.

All 4 of them went bad over a period of a few weeks.

When I bought my ram 2500 new in 2015 I purchased the bumper to bumper max care for the life of the truck that dodge offered. At 90,000 I had the transmission worked on and a new clutch for the a/c compressor. Cost me a $100 deductible. I just had a brand new 6.4 crate hemi put in at 120,000 miles and 5 1/2 years old. $9,000 repair. Cost me $100. I think I got my $2700 out of them and the warranty still goes until the repair cost more than the value of the truck. Ram quit offering this warranty last year.
